At the British Safety Council, our Campaigns and Research work together to address critical health, safety, and wellbeing challenges in workplaces. Through our campaigns, we raise awareness, advocate for better practices, and reach those most vulnerable to poor health and safety standards, as well as those empowered to make a difference. Our initiatives, like Keep Thriving and Time to Breathe, spotlight key issues, from mental wellbeing to the dangers of air pollution for outdoor workers. By engaging with businesses, government bodies, and communities, our campaigns drive action and foster healthier, safer environments for everyone.
Our Research complements these efforts by generating data-driven insights that inform both policy and practice. Through rigorous studies and analysis, we highlight emerging risks, evaluate wellbeing impacts, and contribute to an evidence base that supports our advocacy. Together, our campaigns and research help us champion solutions and shape policy decisions, equipping organisations with the knowledge they need to protect and support their teams effectively in an ever-changing world of work.
Campaigns
Keep Thriving Campaign
British Safety Council launched its Keep Thriving campaign to help improve the wellbeing of workers, within and outside of the workplace, so that all of us can thrive.
Time to Breathe Campaign
40,000 deaths a year are caused by air pollution, according to a government report. Outdoor workers have been ignored for too long as our pollution crisis deepens. They have a right to clean air. It’s Time to Breathe.
Research
Our manifesto
British Safety Council's manifesto, Working Well, outlines five steps for healthier and safer work activities.
Positions and key issues
