If you’re interested in the cost of a NEBOSH Diploma and want to find out more about classroom or workplace learning settings – then, please contact us.

After enrolment, you’ll have five years to take your first unit. Once you have passed this, you’ll be given a further five years to take the remaining three units, including a workplace assessment. Please contact us for single unit costs.

Keep in mind that if you fail your assessments, resitting can be expensive as you’ll have to re-register and pay the course fees again. You should, therefore, consider pass rates when choosing a provider. British Safety Council pass rates are consistently above the national average.

If you’re at all worried about the NEBOSH Diploma cost, talk to your employer – perhaps they may be able to help you. Remember that there will also be exam and registration fees to consider when adding up your NEBOSH National Diploma cost.

How much is the NEBOSH Fire Safety course?

A NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate costs around £1,150 for an online course, plus assessment fees and £649 for Live Online. If you’re a manager responsible for fire prevention in your workplace, the NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management can teach you to effectively carry out risk assessments as well as give your career a boost. The qualification is comparable to an A level in England and Wales.

Is a NEBOSH qualification worth the cost?

If you’re pursuing a career in health and safety, the short answer is yes!

The NEBOSH Certificate is the first step on your way to becoming a health and safety practitioner and is equivalent to an A-level qualification. It will increase your chances of employment within your chosen profession and offer you an edge over other prospective employees.

Once you have your NEBOSH Certificate you can then go on to take a NEBOSH National Diploma in health and safety, which is seen as the ‘Gold Standard’ in health and safety and is the equivalent of a university honours degree.

The advantages of this qualification will outweigh any concerns you may have about fees. If you’re thinking of applying for a senior management role within the industry this qualification will give you a clear advantage. You’ll be able to command a higher salary and you’ll soon see that over half the job ads for health and safety management positions demand this diploma. You’ll also be able to become a graduate member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety.

Financial help towards the cost of a NEBOSH course

If you’re at all worried about the costs of NEBOSH, you’ll be pleased to know that help is at hand.

Talk to your employer

If you are in employment, you should start by speaking to your employer. Some companies offer loans towards the cost of educational courses, others may even have a grant system for you. You will also need time to study, which may involve reducing your working hours temporarily.

Government support

There are a range of state-funded grants and loans that may help you with the cost of your NEBOSH Certificate. The Advanced Learner Loan is a useful place to start your funding search and if your application is approved, you may be eligible for more government help in the form of a Bursary Fund.

You won’t have to start repaying the loan until you earn over a specific threshold and the government has two repayment plans to help you spread the cost:

  • Plan one is for those earning more than £364 per week
  • Plan two is for those earning in excess of £494 per week.

You won’t have to start repaying the loan until April after you’ve completed your course.

If you’re claiming Universal Credit, it’s also worth asking the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) if they can help you with your general certificate costs.

Charity grants and loans

There are plenty of charities dedicated to helping people kick start their career:

  • If you have a family and want to study for a certificate in a bid to improve your prospects, you could also take a look at Family Action who offer help with laptops and examination costs as part of its education grant. For those living in Wales, the ReAct scheme will cover your certificate course costs if you have been made redundant and have not worked for a period of six weeks (from the date of your redundancy to the date you apply for funding).
  • Another option is the charity Turn2Us, which offers grants for people on low incomes or who are going through difficult times, for example due to illness.
